William Devon Largent

William “Bill” Devon Largent Sr, age 82, of Crawfordsville passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019. He was born October 23, 1936 to the late Carl and Callie (Jennings) Largent.

William graduated from New Ross High school in 1954 and then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On December 2, 1960 he married the love of his life, Chetra Kay (Ford) Largent, who survives.

William worked as a supervisor in shipping at Mid-States Wire for 39 years and also worked at Ace Hardware. He was a member of the Mace United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #50, Scottish Rites, Eagles, American Legion, and the Shriners. William enjoyed collecting John Wayne memorabilia, hunting, football, and was a big Peyton Manning fan.  He loved being outdoors, gardening, feeding the squirrels, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Chetra; two sons, Will (Carrie) Largent and Jeff (Tricia) Largent, both of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Kelly Largent, of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren, Kristin, Zac, Tyler, Travis, Zach, Dylan, Blake, Brady, Tiara, Taylor, Ryan, Jordan and Kristin; and 19 Great-grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; a sister, Genevieve Fruits; and four brothers, Robert Guinn, Jack Guinn, Carl Largent Jr., and Leonard Largent.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St, Crawfordsville on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00PM with Masonic Service at 7:30PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 1:00PM at Mace United Methodist Church, 5546 US 136, Crawfordsville with military rites by the United States Air Force and Legion Post #72 Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Mace Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Crawfordsville F.O.P #90 Scholarship fund.
