Melvin G. Kiger

Melvin German Kiger, age 53 of Cates, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.  He was born in Danville, IL on September 20, 1965 to the late Carl & Elva Grace (Woodrum) Kiger.

Melvin graduated from Covington High School in 1984 and proudly served his country in the Indiana National Guard.  He married the love of his life, Patsy Jane Sosbe on October 16, 1983, who survives.  He worked at R.R. Donnelley as a binder operator for over 30 years.  He loved spending time outdoors cutting wood, hunting, and spending time in his garage.  He loved making people laugh and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patsy of Cates; his daughter, Amber (Christopher) Schanlaub of Cates; 7 brothers, Garry (Susie) Kiger of Bedford, Bobby (Robin) Kiger and Scott Kiger, both of Crawfordsville, Kevin (Danna) Kiger of Clinton, Chris Kiger of Kingman, Larry (Rhonda) Kiger and Leslie Kiger, both of Cates; 3 sisters, Pam Norman of Crawfordsville, Teresa Moyer of Lafayette, and Lisa Kiger of Brazil; 3 grandchildren, Kaydyn & Hayley Kiger and Preston Schanlaub; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeremy Kiger; a twin brother, Elvin Kiger; 2 other brothers, Karl Nelson Kiger and Billy Kiger; and 1 sister, Sharon Lamb.

Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with Pastor Bob Cruea officiating.  Burial will follow at Coal Creek Cemetery.  Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care.  Share memories and condolences online at www.sandersfuneralcare.com
