Evelyn Jane (Mikels) Gleason

Evelyn Jane (Mikels) Gleason, age 86 of Crawfordsville passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Ben Hur Health & Rehabilitation in Crawfordsville.  She was born in Crawfordsville on October 19, 1932 to the late Clifford & Odessa Mabel (Tender) Mikels.

On September 25, 1948 Evelyn married the love of her life, Gene Lewis Gleason, who preceded her in death on January 23, 2013.  She was a loving mother and true homemaker.  She was always cleaning, canning, sewing, working in her huge garden, and cutting wood.  She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Michael James (Virginia) Gleason of Crawfordsville, Brent Lewis (Judy) Gleason of Martinsville, and Timothy Alan (Stephanie) Gleason of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Wendy (Lee) Eggleston of Crawfordsville; two brothers, George Mikels of Florida and Raymond (Mary) Mikels of Crawfordsville; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gene; a brother, Don Mikels; and two sisters, Frances Darland and Mary Catherine Truax.
